Privacy Policy

Kristin with an Eye is the photography business of Kristin Mathilde, based in Cape Town. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, who helps process it, how long it is kept and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who is responsible
Kristin Mathilde is the responsible party and information officer. For any privacy question or request, email rockhill.kristin@gmail.com.
What is collected and why
- Contact and enquiry forms (including the form on the QR connect page): your name, email address, mobile number, the type of session you are interested in and your message. Used only to reply to you and plan your session.
- Booking requests: the package you chose, your name, email address, phone number, event date and any notes. Used to confirm and arrange your booking.
- Gift vouchers and sponsorships: your name, email address and phone number, the recipient's name and contact details or your organisation's name, and any message. Used to issue and honour the voucher.
- Client galleries: the name you enter to open a private gallery and the photos you mark as favourites, so your selection can be prepared.
- Technical details: the IP address and browser details sent with a form, kept with the submission to prevent spam and abuse.
Nothing you send is used for marketing or shared for anyone else's marketing. An enquiry is not a newsletter subscription.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses a small number of essential cookies: one keeps a private client gallery unlocked during your visit, and one keeps the site administrator signed in. These do not track you.
With your permission, the site also uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) to measure how visitors find and use the site, such as which pages are viewed and whether a contact form was sent. Google Analytics does not load at all unless you click Accept on the cookie notice. If you decline, nothing is sent to Google and the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, which removes the analytics cookies and asks again.
Who processes it for us
These service providers (operators) process information on Kristin with an Eye's behalf, under their own data-protection terms:
- Vercel — hosts the website.
- Neon — stores form submissions in a database in London, United Kingdom.
- Resend — sends the confirmation email to you and the notification email to Kristin.
- Google — Kristin's email inbox (Gmail) receives the notifications, and Google Analytics measures site use if you accept cookies.
- Cloudflare — stores portfolio and client gallery photos.
Some of these providers store or process information outside South Africa, including in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States. Each is bound by data-protection terms that give protection comparable to POPIA.
How long it is kept
Enquiries and booking requests are kept for up to 24 months after the last contact and then deleted. Voucher records are kept until the voucher is used or expires, and as long afterwards as the law requires for financial records. Client galleries are removed when they expire. Google Analytics data is kept for Google's standard retention period.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information held about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to it being used. Email rockhill.kristin@gmail.com and you will receive a response within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, client galleries are protected by access codes, and the admin area requires a signed-in account.
